Street Play is all about being loud and making the world hear. However, this immense force to create awareness of large has been confined to the college campuses. We plan to give street theatre a whole new image, break the barriers and take to the Aam Junta. The first edition of the festival was hugely successful and 14 teams from Delhi University performed at over 45 public places of the city making the city more lively and aware about social and environmental issues.

The initiative was strongly supported by the United Nations Information Center as part of its International Year of Youth 2010-2011. Working on a common ideolo
gy to empower the youth and make them active contributors in social growth, the initiative saw great response from all collaborators, participants and audience. The participating teams performed on a wide range of topics from climate change to secularism to save water. The successful collaboration in the first year of the festival is being continued over this year when the festival goes PAN India to over 8 cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune and Kolkata) across the country and plans to reach out to over 30,000 people.

The Be-Artsy team would like to thank Ms. Rineeta Naik and Mr. Rajiv Chandran for extending the support of United Nations Information Center to Be on the Street initiative.
